PORT BARTON |

|
|
| |
On the northwest coast of Palawan, roughly half way between Puerto
Princesa and El Nido, Port Barton has become something of a travellers'
rest stop. There are several white-sand islands in the bay and Port
Barton itself has a short stretch of beach that is home to half-a-dozen
resorts. Buses and jeepneys from Puerto Princesa arrive at Port Barton
along Rizal Street and the beach is facing you. If you turn right at
Rizal Street and walk along the narrow coastal road you come to the
village centre and the church.
Accommodation choices include Swissippini ($15-20), which offers nipa
huts by the water, Elsa's Beach Cottages ($10-15), which are small but
okay for the price, and Mantaray Resort ($10-20. Set apart at the far
northern end of the beach is Shangri-La, $5-10part of Scandinavia beach
Resort, which has cheap huts for two.
